At SFE, our hearts go out to all families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.  Since our founding in 2004, Southwest Foodservice Excellence (SFE) has pledged to “Put Child Nutrition First.”  Today, this same pledge now guides us as we stand by our district partners in addressing the challenges presented by the coronavirus (COVID-19) and in guarding the welfare of our students, employees and district communities.

That’s why we are actively hosting emergency feeding programs for so many of our district partners.  In the process, we are vigilantly monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local/state agencies for the latest developments related to COVID-19.  We also are closely following USDA and local/state protocols related to child nutrition feeding programs, sending out daily updates to all of our district site teams to keep everyone well informed and, above all, safe.

Key practices include:

  Working diligently with our mainline distributors to ensure a reliable and safe supply of all items necessary for district emergency feeding programs, while continuing to uphold the highest quality nutrition and flavor standards for the food we serve.

  Adhering to the highest of safety standards from the CDC and state/local agencies, also building in supplemental company precautions within our onsite cleaning and safe-serving procedures.

  Collaborating closely with our district partners to open central sites with new meal distribution processes such as curbside delivery and walk-up windows in observance of CDC-recommended social distancing guidance.  Similarly, we are carefully managing all stages of meal preparation, storage and transit to ensure maximum safety for our employees and the families we serve.
